Free Beginner Guitar Lessons And Advice On How To Survive In The Music Industry
Do you have old photos of your lounge room rock star performance when you were a kid? The dream that alot of kids have is to be famous and play in a band. You got your first guitar and had a few lessons and off you went into your first band.
Well, not for everybody. Most people get the guitar and don’t do anything with it. They still have a dream of becoming famous but put it off indefinitely. Does that sound like you?
What steps have you taken to fulfil that dream? Learning to Play The Guitar is a fun and very rewarding experience. Whether you want to play acoustic or electric, it doesn’t matter. Play both! Be the centre of attention at those parties. Impress your friends and feel the satisfaction when you nail that song you’ve always wanted to play.
It’s not hard to see how to be successful in the music industry. Stand out in the crowd, be unique and consistent. Playing and singing your own songs is where the action is. Playing covers is only where you’ll learn a few techniques that you can take with you, but there’s no glory in playing other peoples songs for a living.
Playing other peoples songs is not really that rewarding but there’s alot to learn whithin the songs. You can utilise those ideas for your own music.
Combining that with your own ideas often leads to a great piece of music.
Keep learning what you can. Do a little bit everyday, it takes time but is so rewarding and gives you that edge over the people that couldn’t be bothered.
Maybe you want to learn to sing too? Definitely an area where you should strongly consider lessons. Learning how to sing properly from a reputable teacher will only benefit you ten fold and get the best quality form your vocal chords. When you write your songs you need to feel happy with what you’ve done. When you’re done, get them published and you’re on your way.
Your image is important too. You’ll need to stand out from the crowd. It doesn’t matter what you wear, your’re on stage performing. You’re not some punter that just wandered in off the street. Be unique. Dress for success.
It can be a little intimidating learning and trying something new. It’s only because you haven’t experienced it yet and when you do, you will have that much fun you’ll wish you had done it years ago. Keep learning as much as you can.
If you think you have the talent and drive, nothing will stop you.
About the Author
I’ve been involved in the music industry for many years playing in bands, promoting bands, a tour manager and production manger. I’ve met many people and I’ve experienced many things.
As a guitarist, I kept it really simple. No lessons, I taught myself to play. I met some other players and we jammed for hours, days, weeks! That’s where I learnt the most. Today I record and play at home in my little studio in the corner of my bedroom, for now anyway.
